Rochester’s Hotel Cadillac to Become All-Electric Affordable Housing

Originally announced back in September, CSD Housing and the YWCA now have solid plans to rehab the former Hotel Cadillac into the Fine Arts Building Lofts with construction expected to be completed in October 2024.

Here are some key take-aways:

  1. The apartments will address the rising demand for affordable housing and be primarily available to artists and financially at-risk adults, including young people aging out of the foster care system, with the first floor being a dedicated commercial space.

  2. Partnerships with the transportation sector and surrounding universities are in the works to ensure residents have access to everything they need to live and thrive in the area.

  3. Rochester-based Christa Construction is involved in the project- past partnerships include the 270 on East Apartments in the Inner Loop which tout “a 73 kW rooftop mounted solar array.” source

  4. Rob Cain of CSD commented that plans include the building being made all-electric, with the use of on- and off-site solar.
